East Cobb isn't a city (voters turned down cityhood in 2022), so the easiest way to say where you live is the nearest big road: Johnson Ferry, Roswell Road, Lower Roswell, Sandy Plains, Shallowford, Paper Mill. Johnson Ferry Road and I-285 are two of the main crossings over the Chattahoochee into Fulton County, and both back up every afternoon. We match East Cobb students with teachers based in Cobb, so your lesson doesn't depend on either.

If your house has a finished basement, it's the best room you have for a drum kit, an amp or the first rehearsals of a garage band. Upstairs, the living-room piano and the kitchen-table violin work just as well, and your teacher teaches on the instrument your student practices on all week. For students under 18, a parent or guardian is home for every lesson.

Walton, Wheeler, Pope and beyond

Band and orchestra students at Walton, Wheeler, Pope, Lassiter, Sprayberry and Kell high schools, middle schools like Dickerson, Dodgen, Hightower Trail, Mabry and Simpson (Cobb County School District), and Marietta High School (Marietta City Schools) can bring their school music to lessons, including GMEA honor band and All-State prep.

Marching season

Fall means Friday-night marching band. Your teacher can start piccolo work for flutists before band camp, build endurance for brass players, and keep private lessons going when the season gets busy.

Opera, theatre and the Square

The Strand Theatre on Marietta Square and the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, home stage of The Atlanta Opera, are both close by. Hearing music at that level, live, is some of the best ear training there is.

Questions

Lessons in East Cobb, answered.

All areas
Do you come to Marietta, or just East Cobb?

Both. East Cobb and east Marietta are the heart of our Cobb pod, which also covers Smyrna and Vinings. If you're farther west, send your address and we'll tell you honestly what's available: in-home, studio or online.

Can lessons help with chair placements at Walton or Lassiter?

Yes. A private teacher works one on one on exactly what chair tests and auditions measure: tone, scales, the prepared music and sight-reading. Tell us when the next placement or audition is, and your teacher will build the practice plan around it.

We have a finished basement. Is an acoustic drum kit a good idea?

It's a great spot for one. Your teacher can help you choose between acoustic and electronic, set the kit up to fit your student, and suggest mesh heads or low-volume cymbals if the rest of the house needs a break. Hearing protection is part of every lesson either way.

Ready when you are.

Tell us who's learning and what they want to play. A coordinator will call within one business day with a teacher in mind.
